Seasonal Tourism Positions

Caledonia Visitor Information Centre requires two
Student Tourism Counsellors.

Qualifications: Candidates must be Canadian Citizens, full time students ages 16 – 30 and must be returning to full time studies in the fall. University and Senior High School students may apply.
Knowledge of North Queens area and surrounding Counties, accommodations, attractions, restaurants, excellent written and verbal communication skills; map reading, computer skills and must be able to demonstrate verbal telephone etiquette. Friendly and out going personality with the ability to work as part of a team, as well as on your own.

Candidate will have, or be willing to take: CPR/Emergency First Aid, Service 1st, WHMIS, World Host and Product Knowledge training courses. Training will be provided. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Duties: Providing information and directions to visitors, updating local itineraries, making reservations, helping with fund raising events, maintaining a clean bathroom and visitor centre, weeding of flower beds, selling local crafts and souvenirs, updating web sites with local information and events, stocking brochure racks, making posters, as well as other duties as may be required.

Candidates will be rated based on education, skills, experience, and personal suitability.
Employment from June 22nd – August 29th inc. 30 hours a week @ minimum wage.

ROYAL NOVA SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL TATTOO BUS TRIP WITH THE REGION OF QUEENS RECREATION DEPT. – TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE!
Enjoy the sights, sounds and pageantry of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.
Date: Thursday, July 2nd , 2015, Departure: 3:00 p.m., Liverpool – show time is 7:30 p.m.
Tickets: $87.00 each
Maximum registration: 54 people, minimum requirement: 48 people
Transportation: Fully appointed air conditioned motor coach.
** Supper will be at Swiss Chalet, and is not included in the ticket price

Physical Activity in a Box: Loan Program
Did you know that the Recreation Department has a variety of equipment for loan? GPS system, Nordic walking poles, parachutes, flag football set, and ladder golf. There is a refundable deposit required upon pick-up, items will be loaned to those 19 years and older. Call the Recreation Department for more information!
KidSport
KidSport is a national children's program that helps children overcome the financial barriers preventing or limiting their participation in organized sport. The KidSport program believes that no child should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport. KidSport Nova Scotia provides funding of up to $300/year/child for sport registration and/or equipment. The next deadline for funding is June 1st, 2015. Jumpstart
The Canadian Tire Jumpstart program is a national charitable program that helps financially disadvantaged children participate in organized sport and recreation. The Jumpstart program believes that “the answer to ‘can I play’….should always be yes!”. The Jumpstart program provides funding of up to $300/child/per application for registration fees and equipment. There is no application deadline for funding.
