Volunteer Income Tax Program for Residents of Queens County
The Recreation Department will once again be making appointments for the Free Volunteer Income Tax Program, operated by community volunteers, and provided at no charge. Appointments will be scheduled on Monday evenings between 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Cook & Sons Financial, and Tuesday afternoons between 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. at the T.H. Raddall Library. Appointments will continue until mid April. For more information about the program, or to make an appointment, please call 902-354-5741after February 1st. Please note that appointments are required as this is not a drop in service.

North Queens Volunteer Income Tax Program

ROYAL NOVA SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL TATTOO BUS TRIP WITH THE REGION OF QUEENS RECREATION DEPT. – TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE!
Enjoy the sights, sounds and pageantry of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.
Date: Thursday, July 2nd , 2015, Departure: 3:00 p.m., Liverpool – show time is 7:30 p.m.
Tickets: $80.00 each until the pre-registration date of May 15th, 2015 (Ticket payments received after May 15th will be $87.00 each)
Maximum registration: 54 people, minimum requirement: 48 people
Transportation: Fully appointed air conditioned motor coach.
** Supper will be at Swiss Chalet, and is not included in the ticket price

Summer Employment Opportunities
The Region of Queens Recreation and Community Facilities Department offers a variety of exciting summer employment opportunities. For further information on these positions, please contact us at 902-354-5741 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm weekdays at 249 White Point Road, Liverpool. An application form and basic job description are available on our website to download http://www.regionofqueens.com/residents-and-council/employment-opportunities/ . The North Queens Community School and Liverpool Regional High School also have application packages at their main office for your convenience.

Physical Activity in a Box: Loan Program
Did you know that the Recreation Department has a variety of equipment for loan? GPS system, Nordic walking poles, flag football and Ladder Golf Set. There is a refundable deposit required upon pick-up, items will be loaned to those 19 years and older. Call the Recreation Department for more information!
KidSport
KidSport is a national children's program that helps children overcome the financial barriers preventing or limiting their participation in organized sport. The KidSport program believes that no child should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport. KidSport Nova Scotia provides funding of up to $300/year/child for sport registration and/or equipment. The next deadline for funding is January 1st, 2015. Jumpstart
The Canadian Tire Jumpstart program is a national charitable program that helps financially disadvantaged children participate in organized sport and recreation. The Jumpstart program believes that “the answer to ‘can I play’….should always be yes!”. The Jumpstart program provides funding of up to $300/child/per application for registration fees and equipment. The next deadline for funding is May 18th, 2015.
