Youth Fishing Derby: 1st Christopher Lake, Hibernia
Join the Recreation Department for the Annual Youth Fishing Derby at 1st Christopher Lake, sponsored by Mary Lake Home Building Centre. The Derby starts bright and early at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, and you can enjoy fishing fun until 11 a.m. The Derby is for youth aged 3 - 15 years, and there are prizes for the top 3 largest fish caught in 4 age categories, and also prizes for tagged fish! Get your fishing rod ready - it will be a fun filled morning! Admission is free, and there is no pre-registration required. Register on site when you land "the Big One"!

Join the Region of Queens Recreation Department for a fun filled morning of fishing at the Annual Youth Fishing Derby at Victoria Lake, sponsored by Liverpool Home Hardware. The Fishing begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, and continues until 11 a.m. Youth ages 3 - 15 may have their catch measured for a chance to win terrific prizes for largest fish caught in 4 age categories, and there are even prizes for catching tagged fish. This Derby is free of charge and there is no pre-registration required - you can register your catch when you land "the big one"! Start thinking about the best bait to use to land the biggest trout!

Maximum registration: 54 people, minimum requirement: 47 people
Transportation: Fully appointed air conditioned motor coach.

Physical Activity in a Box: Loan Program
Did you know that the Recreation Department has a variety of equipment for loan? We have a GPS system, parachutes, flag football set, ladder golf, and walking/hiking poles. There is a refundable deposit required upon pick-up, items will be loaned to those 20 years and older. Call the Recreation Department for more information!
Jumpstart
The Canadian Tire Jumpstart program is a national charitable program that helps financially disadvantaged children participate in organized sport and recreation. The Jumpstart program believes that “the answer to ‘can I play’….should always be yes!”. The Jumpstart program provides funding of up to $300/child/per application for registration fees and equipment. The next deadline for funding is May 17th, 2013. Queens Learning Network

If you are 19 years of age or over and want to upgrade your education, we offer classes equal to grades 1-10. These can help you get ready for an Adult High School diploma, a GED, improve your chances of finding work or you can take classes just for your own satisfaction.

Liverpool classes are at 108 College St. and take place, Monday- Thursday 8:00am- 2:30pm and Friday 8:00am-noon. Attendance times can be flexible and you can start classes at any time through the school year. North Queens participants with a computer and internet can also try out distance education to join in with classes.

Work skills (such as resume writing, computer use, portfolio) will be included with our classes as well as some Certificate Workshops for work readiness, such as; Time Management, Personal Budgeting, Service Excellence, WHMIS and others.
All classes are FREE. You can work at your own pace.

Community Youth Sport Registration Night Thursday, April 25th 6:00-8:00pm in the Community Room at Queens Place Emera Centre Queens Place Emera Centre is pleased to host Community Youth Sport Registration Night. The following organizations will be present: Queens County Soccer Association, Liverpool Tennis Club, Junior Golf, Rossignol Surf Shop Summer Surf Camp & the Queens Archers Association.
Group Fitness Classes
8 Week Session: April 8th- May 31st
Group fitness classes will include: Zumba, Core & Nothing More, Fusion, SkipFit, Run With Me & Tabata. For a full schedule of class times and descriptions please refer to our website or contact us by phone at 354-4422.
YouthFit
A program for youth aged 13-15 who would like to join the Fitness Centre and come without a parent or guardian. Upon registration, youth complete a series of 3 introductory sessions, in groups of up to 5 participants, with qualified Fitness Centre staff. After successfully completing the program, youth are able to join the Fitness Centre and come on their own, but must continue to follow the program rules. There is no cost for the YouthFit program, but regular membership rates apply upon completion.

Fitness Centre
Adult and Junior rates are available for daily, weekly, monthly, 3 month and annual memberships. Family rates and Senior discounts are also available. Junior’s age 13-15 years old who have not completed the YouthFit program must be accompanied by an adult. Memberships give users access to our Fitness Centre and Walking Track.
Indoor Walking Track
The cost is $2/use or $20/month. The track is open Monday-Friday from 6:00am-9:00pm and Saturday & Sunday from 9:00am-4:00pm (subject to change based on programming).

Revised Walking Track Hours
The Walking Track will now be open for use during the following hours:
Designated – Walking Times:
Monday – Friday 8:00am-8:00pm
Saturday & Sunday 9:00am-4:00pm
Designated – Running & Jogging Times:
Monday – Thursday 6:00am-8:00am & 8:00pm-9:00pm
Friday 6:00am-8:00am
Walking, jogging & running are only permitted at the designated times.
*Note: The Walking Track will be closed all day on April 22nd, April 23rd & April 24th until 5:00pm.
